Mayor Proclaims June 15, Get on Board for Better Health Day|
Free Health Fair Set for June 15, Plaquemine Civic Center
Mayor Tony Gulotta recently proclaimed June 15, 2013 as Get on Board for Better Health Day.
Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Axiall are presenting a free health fair with health screenings and education to the community. Join us at the Plaquemine Civic Center on Saturday, June 15, from 8 am to noon, for a day all about your health. Free screenings include Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index, Glucose, Stroke Risk Assessment, Colorectal Cancer, Cholesterol, Vision, Heart Rhythm Screening and Skin Cancer. The Plaquemine Civic Center is located at 24700 J. Gerald Berret Blvd., Plaquemine. In addition to free screenings, the Plaquemine Health Fair includes major prize giveaways, free t-shirts for the first 500 participants and activities for children.
Whereas, being healthy and active is a top goal of all of the citizens of Plaquemine, and
Whereas, the knowledge and skills necessary to live a healthy life and maintain a healthy lifestyle are fundamental to achieving good health status, and
Whereas, the City of Plaquemine is committed to supporting its citizenry in having access to health care services and to sharing information about these services, and
Whereas, health care screenings are vital to the early detection of diseases and illnesses, and
Whereas, the opportunity to talk one-on-one with local health care professionals can be an important step toward developing a patient-doctor relationship, and
Whereas, screening services, health assessments are oftentimes too expensive for all citizens to easily access, and
Whereas, the Mayor of Plaquemine, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Axiall are dedicated to helping local citizens achieve their optimal health status through promoting health awareness and encouraging good health habits, and
Whereas, the Get on Board for Better Health Fair will provide FREE health care screenings, a question and answer session with local doctors, and other health-related activities designed to motivate citizens to take charge of their own health.
Now, thereafter, I Mark A. 'Tony' Gulotta, Mayor of Plaquemine, do hereby proclaim Saturday, June 15, 2013, as
Get on Board for Better Health Day
At the Plaquemines Civic Center, and urge all citizens to come and learn more about the local opportunities to improve their health.
