Graduate Medical Education

Our Lady of the Lake, with the support of our medical staff, is committed to excellence in both patient care and medical education.

The Pediatric Residency Program at Our Lady of the Lake offers residents a unique and innovative curriculum focusing on the six Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competencies and the Institute of Medicine's six Dimensions of Quality. OLOL residents are trained at the first and only Children's Hospital and 24/7 pediatric emergency department in the Baton Rouge region to focus on how these competencies and Dimensions of Quality are interrelated at the level of every patient.

We also collaborate with Louisiana State University (LSU) to provide graduate medical education that enables physicians in training to develop personal, clinical and professional competence under the guidance and supervision of faculty and staff. The new OLOL/LSU Psychiatry Residency Program is recruiting for the first class to launch in July of 2012.

OLOL, in partnership with LSU School of Medicine and Tulane School of Medicine, is currently participating in the following teaching programs:

  • Emergency Medicine
  • General Surgery
  • Internal Medicine
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Anesthesiology
