In partnership with BREADA and the local farming community, Our Lady of the Lake is beginning a 10-week pilot program to promote wellness and healthy eating among its employees. The hospital is the first employer in Baton Rouge to offer the Farm to Work program on a large-scale basis, providing its nearly 7,000 team members with easy and affordable access to locally grown produce.
The hospital will launch the Farm to Work program this week by hosting a local Farmers’ Market where an assortment of fresh fruits, vegetables, gulf shrimp, baked goods, plants, flowers and more will be available for purchase.
The Farmers’ Market will be held on Friday, May 9 from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Team Member Garden Parking Lot behind Garage 4, which can be accessed along the Our Lady of the Lake Service Road. In case of rain, the Farmers’ Market will be set up inside of Garage 4.
Employees who participate in the Farm to Work program will be delivered boxes of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables at the hospital on a weekly or bimonthly basis.
