Respiratory Care Services
Our Lady of the Lake's Respiratory Care Services covers the diagnosis and treatment of lung-related illnesses, including asthma, emphysema, bronchitis and occupational lung exposure. Our Lady of the Lake was named Hospital of the Year for two years running by the Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care.
Respiratory Care Services include:
- Administration of therapeutic medical gases, apparatuses (breathing machines and tubes) and environmental control systems
- Humidification
- Nebulization (device that allows for inhalation of mist into lungs)
- Medication delivery
- Ventilation and oxygenation needs
- Pulmonary function studies
- Secretion removal and bronchial pulmonary hygiene
- Assistance with breathing exercises
- Maintenance of natural, artificial and mechanical airways
- Pulmonary rehabilitation
